Salalah/Media Coordinator/ Fadi Haqqan:
Our national junior team achieved a well-deserved victory over its Iraqi counterpart by two goals to one in the match that took place today at the Al Saada Sports Complex in the city of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, in the first round of the first group of the 10th West Asian Championship in the Sultanate of Oman.
Our team started the match by scoring the lead goal in the third minute from a penalty kick scored by striker Abdul Rahman Al-Khader. Through an individual effort, player Muhammad Shams El-Din added the second goal in the fifth minute.
As a result of a defensive retreat by our team, the Iraqi team received a penalty kick, from which player Alaa Wahid scored the goal.
The battalion of the national coach, Samer Saleh Fadl, was at the level of providing an outstanding performance, and the second half witnessed a massive waste of opportunities as a result of the lack of the final touch to double the score while recording dangerous attacks for the Iraqi national team.
The match ended with a victory for our team by two goals to one, in a strong and enthusiastic start in which our young stars appeared, which is a great moral motivation to continue to shine in the upcoming matches while correcting some of the mistakes that accompanied the first match.
The second half witnessed changes for our team, as players Omar Anwar and Mohamed Nasser were included instead of Abdel-Aleem Mustafa and Zaid Al-Jarash.
