Washington - agencies:
Republicans came close to securing a majority in the US House of Representatives, early Thursday morning, while control of the Senate was undecided, two days after Democrats avoided the "red wave" in the midterm elections.
And the Republicans raised their share in the House of Representatives to 210 seats, where they have only 8 seats left to wrest the majority from the Democrats, giving them the possibility to stop the legislative laws of Democratic President Joe Biden.
According to CNN's monitoring, the Democrats have - so far - 191 of the 218 seats needed for a majority and control of the House of Representatives.
In the Senate elections, it was not confirmed that the two major parties were close in the United States with close results in some states, notably Nevada and Arizona, while Georgia went for a runoff on December 6.
The Washington Post said it could take weeks to figure out which party gets more seats in the Senate.
US President Biden pledged during a White House press conference to work with Republicans..noting that he understands that voters are disappointed despite the surprise performance of the Democrats.
