The Presidential Leadership Council is studying the local situation and the repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks

Today, Thursday, the Presidential Leadership Council held a virtual meeting chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Council, and in the presence of its members Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, Sultan Al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdul Rahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and Othman Majali, while he was absent with the excuse of Council member Faraj Al-Bohsani.

The meeting, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik, was devoted to discussing the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities, and the measures taken to neutralize them and limit their catastrophic repercussions, especially on the humanitarian and economic conditions.

In this context, the Council discussed the government's procedural policy matrix to implement National Defense Council Resolution No. 1 of 2022, regarding the classification of the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization, and the consequent measures on all economic, political, and security tracks, within the framework of the relevant legal rules.

The Presidential Leadership Council heard from the Prime Minister a report on the recent attacks that targeted the Al-Dhaba oil port in Hadhramaut Governorate and their implications. It also heard from the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Daari, the level of defense readiness to deter these sabotage attacks.

In this regard, the Council approved a number of firm decisions, and directed the government with a long-term implementation plan at various levels.

He stressed that the repetition of these terrorist attacks against vital civilian installations does not only target the remaining economic arteries that save the lives of millions of Yemenis, but rather pose a threat to the stability of the region, energy supplies, freedom of global trade, and international peace and security.

The council noted that the wreckage of the suicide drones used in the criminal attacks proves the Iranian regime's involvement in supporting these cowardly acts of sabotage.

He stressed the need for the international community to realize the seriousness of the continuation of such threats, and to overlook Iran's role in providing its terrorist militias with ballistic missile technologies and drones, of which huge shipments were intercepted during the past few weeks.

The Presidential Leadership Council referred to the grave effects that would result from these terrorist attacks, in the forefront of which is the potential salary crisis and food security across Yemen, which threatens to have catastrophic repercussions, and the collapse of all efforts made to avert the specter of famine.

The Council called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in the face of this dangerous terrorist threat that the Houthi militia and its supporters boast of, in a war crime that requires firm punishment by classifying it as an international terrorist group.

The Council praised the vigilance of the armed forces and their air defenses in confronting these systematic sabotage attacks targeting civilian facilities and their flagrant violation of international law and its customary rules.

He stressed that these attacks confirm the extent of the terrorist militias' disregard for all UN, regional and international efforts to stop the war and end the suffering of the Yemeni people, as well as the extent of their dependence on the Iranian regime and its subversive agenda in the region.

The Presidential Leadership Council affirmed its commitment and the government to take the necessary measures to deter these threats and protect national capabilities and gains in a way that guarantees the continuity of citizens' interests and alleviates their suffering.

In this context, the Council praised the positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, over the past years, leading to strengthening the central bank’s account by an amount of one billion, 102 million and 500 thousand dirhams as a payment. The first of the total joint cash deposit amounting to three billion dollars.

The Council also praised the efforts of the United Kingdom and the United States, which led to strengthening the Central Bank with $300 million from Special Drawing Rights in the International Monetary Fund, which will contribute to the stability of the national currency and reduce the repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on the humanitarian and economic conditions.

The Council will continue its meetings to take the decisions on its agenda.
