The "Khaliji Zain 25" football competitions were opened in Basra at the Sports City Stadium, in the presence of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the president of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh jawan bin Hamad Al-Thani, the president of the Qatari and Gulf football federations Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, as well as the president of the Iraqi Football Federation Adnan darjal.
The opening ceremony witnessed various paragraphs related to the heritage of Basra and its great history, the ceremony also talks about the brotherly bond in the Gulf and the common history, and the ceremony dealt with paragraphs about the participating countries, and some Iraqi artists participated in it, as well as interesting paragraphs and fireworks .
Iraqi Prime Minister Shia al-Sudani inaugurated the tournament, which started this evening .
The organizing committee of the Championship has amended the opening date to be held at 5.45 pm, provided that the opening match between Iraq and Oman will be held at seven in the evening, while the meeting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen will start at 9.45 pm.
The teams were divided into two groups, the first group includes Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen, and plays its matches at the Basra International Stadium, while the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait participate in the second group and play their matches at the Olympic Port Stadium.
