The satellite internet service company (Starlink) Starlink has officially launched its new service that allows people almost anywhere on earth to connect to the internet.
Starlink, owned by SpaceX aerospace industries, calls the new service Starlink room Starlink room, and says it is available for 159 US dollars per month for regional use, and 200 US dollars per month for global use.
It is noteworthy that (Starlink ROM) represents a relaunch of the current service (Starlink RV) Starlink RV, and as with the latter, users can choose a portable antenna for 599 dollars, or a dedicated antenna for use on the go for 2,500 dollars.
Previously, users could only travel using a satellite dish nicknamed Dishy within the same continent where they reside.
Starlink markets the new subscription as a way for customers to use the satellite internet in "locations where connectivity is unreliable or completely unavailable". They can also pause the subscription, and cancel it whenever they want.
The service, which uses Starlink links between satellites (also known as space lasers), comes with an important caveat, as the company has previously warned that they should expect a typical high-speed, low-latency internet service but will experience brief periods of poor connectivity, or disconnection altogether. However, she promised that the situation would improve significantly over time.
The Starlink room FAQ page states that" the global service can only be ordered " in the countries on the Starlink availability map. So it is not clear how the company will fulfill its promise to provide global internet, as it is still waiting for regulatory approval in different countries, and it is not available in others.
Starlink warns users outside the United States that they will be responsible for importing the equipment, which means that they will have to make sure that the equipment complies with local laws and regulations, as well as pay customs duties and import taxes.
