Hadhramaut Governor Mabkhout bin Madi laid today in Mukalla the foundation stone for the project of the Radiotherapy Center for Oncology at Al Arab Hospital.
The center is one of the most modern centers in the country specialized in treating cancerous tumors with radiotherapy, and it will be equipped with the latest technologies that will meet the needs of oncology patients in Hadhramaut and the neighboring regions and governorates.
The establishment of the project came to contribute to alleviating cancer patients and the suffering of searching for radiotherapy, which costs patients exorbitant amounts, in addition to fatigue and hardship during travel.
The hospital's board chairman, Abdullah bin Doul, and hospital director, Dr. Salah bin Ziyad, said that the center is expected to be completed about eight to ten months after signing with the project executing agency.
Bin Doul confirmed that the center will be equipped with the latest medical technologies, including an advanced linear processor device from the American company Varian that can treat more than fifty patients per day, and it will cover invasive radiotherapy oncology and an advanced tomographic simulator from the German company Siemens to prepare cancer patients for radiotherapy with high-quality features and a transverse diameter. It exceeds 85 cm.
