FIFA grants Morocco the hosting of the FIFA Club World Cup

The President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, announced today, Friday, that the Kingdom of Morocco will host the FIFA Club World Cup next February.


Gianni Infantino said in a press conference that Morocco will host the Club World Cup from February 1 to February 11, 2023.


The clubs qualified so far to participate in the tournament are the Brazilian Flamengo, the Copa Libertadores champion, the Spanish Real Madrid, the European champion, Wydad Casablanca, the African champion, the American Seattle Sounders, the CONCACAF champion, and Oakland City, the Oceania champion, according to AFP.


It will be the third time that Morocco hosts the FIFA Club World Cup after 2013 and 2014, noting that the last edition was hosted by the UAE and Chelsea crowned it.


Infantino revealed that the FIFA Council approved the establishment of the 2025 version of the Club World Cup with the participation of 32 clubs, and every club in the world will be invited to participate in it, while the details will be discussed later in negotiation with stakeholders, and it will actually be like the World Cup.


The 2021 edition was expected in China with the participation of 24 clubs, but the Corona pandemic forced the International Federation to return to the old system.
