The international football federation (FIFA) has announced that Indonesia will be stripped of hosting the U-20 Youth World Cup scheduled between May 20 and June 11, 2023, after a political problem following its refusal to participate in the Israel national team.
FIFA said in a statement," a new host will be announced as soon as possible, with the tournament dates currently remaining unchanged..Referring to possible " sanctions "against the Indonesian Football Federation, without giving additional details on the reasons for the withdrawal of the tournament and content with the phrase"due to current circumstances".
The governor of the Indonesian island of Bali, Wayan Koster, sent a letter to the minister of youth and sports in his country, refusing to attend the Israeli team to participate in the World Cup, explaining his refusal by the lack of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
