The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs announced today, Saturday, that the death toll from floods in the city of Derna in eastern Libya has risen to 11,300.
The United Nations Office explained in a report that there are 10,100 people still missing in Derna, while 170 people died elsewhere in eastern Libya, expecting this toll to rise as search and rescue work continues to find survivors.
The United Nations report included that these numbers are expected to rise as search and rescue crews work diligently to find survivors, noting that the city suffers from a severe problem with drinking water, and at least 55 children have been poisoned due to drinking contaminated water.
