Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the death toll of the victims of the earthquake that struck at dawn today in the south of the country has risen to 912 dead and 5383 injured.
Erdogan said at a press conference at the disaster and Emergency Management headquarters in Ankara that "the earthquake caused great losses, and the authorities have exhausted all means to overcome its effects".
"It is not possible to predict to what extent the death toll will rise due to the continuation of search and rescue operations," he added.
Meanwhile, the victims of the earthquake in Syria rose to 592 dead, hundreds injured and dozens under the rubble.
Hundreds of people were killed and thousands more injured in Turkey and Syria by a strong earthquake that struck southern Turkey at dawn on Monday, and the Turkish authorities raised the alert status to the fourth level, which includes a request for international assistance.
The Turkish disaster and emergency department also announced the registration of a second earthquake centered on Kahraman Marash in the south of the country with a magnitude of 7.6, this afternoon.
