Under the directives of the Director-General of Hadhramaut Coast Security and Police, Brigadier General Muti’ Saeed Al-Minhali, and with the support of the military forces from the second military region, the security and military services launched, today, Friday, a joint security campaign to eradicate the illegal khat markets in the Al-Dis and Al-Sharj areas of the city of Mukalla.


The joint security campaign was launched from the security headquarters of the Mukalla Directorate, headed by the Director of Security and Police in the city of Mukalla, Colonel Salah Salem Al-Mashjari, towards the two markets selling khat in the Al-Dis area, and the Fifth Street in the Al-Sharj area, to prevent disturbing public tranquility, and to ensure the cleanliness and improvement of the streets of the city of Mukalla, and to respond to citizens’ demands regarding The traffic jam left behind by these markets in the middle of residential neighborhoods, and at the eastern entrance to the city, and the spread of waste and dirt resulting from it, which has become distorting the general view of the city.


The Director of Security and Police in the city of Mukalla, Colonel Salah Salem Al-Mashjari, confirmed in a press statement that "the security campaign aims to remove illegal random markets, and to raid suspected dens that are connected to these markets to sell contraband," stressing that the campaign will continue for a long time until this end. Random markets, and new measures and mechanisms will be taken to eliminate this phenomenon and prevent its recurrence, in coordination with the owners of markets, taxes, public works and all concerned authorities.


Colonel Al-Mashjari explained that "the campaign came in response to the citizens' appeals, and its purpose is not only to remove qat markets, but rather to preserve the cleanliness of the city, and to keep the next generation away from these markets so that they do not help them or see them, and prevent their use to sell contraband and violations. Whoever seeks its return or confronts the security forces that went out to combat it.”


During the deployment of the security and military forces to the Moral Guidance Team, the citizens expressed their great happiness on the occasion of the ban on qat selling markets, which caused heavy crowds when they passed through these streets, stressing their support and support with the security services until the campaign achieves all its desired goals.
