Today, Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohamed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, participated in the high-level working session chaired by German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in conjunction with the 27th Climate Summit, which kicked off in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday.
The session, which was attended by many world leaders, representatives of the World Bank and funds concerned with supporting policies to adapt to climate change, touched on the international efforts required to expand the scope of joint action and reduce the risks and repercussions of climate change.
The session sparked an extensive discussion on the negative effects of climate change, the financing needed for mitigation and adaptation to climate phenomena, and the role of countries and financing portfolios in supporting flexible financing mechanisms to enhance collective global action in this context.
The burdens of wars and armed confrontations in many countries of the world, including the Republic of Yemen, as well as floods, hurricanes and global warming, and the importance of preserving them at acceptable limits were also discussed.
The Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, and a number of officials concerned with environmental affairs around the world participated in the working session.
