Sheikh Ahmed Saleh Al-Issa, president of the general Football Federation, confirmed that there is no government, Asian or international support for the federation and the national team, although the federation seeks to prepare national teams and continue their activity amid difficult conditions .
Al-Issa said during a press conference held today in Cairo to introduce Czech coach Miroslav Skop as the technical director of our national team in front of representatives of the Yemeni media and sign the official contract with him : we have not received any financial support at the Football Association, neither from former President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, nor from the current Presidential Leadership Council, nor from the government .
He pointed out that the Asian Federation's support is related to organizing rehabilitation courses for coaches or referees, and that the International Federation froze its support to the Yemeni Federation ten years ago, and there are about ten million dollars supposedly allocated to Yemen during that period, but it was frozen and not spent because of the war .
Al-Issa explained that he signed with the Czech coach skop and his assistant staff for an amount of twenty-five thousand dollars at the expense of the federation and did not receive any support from any side for this purpose.
He pointed out that there is a prior agreement with the Saudi Football Association within the framework of bilateral relations between the two countries, to take care of the salary of the coaching staff of the national team, but has not yet been implemented .
We would have been able, according to a joint cooperation agreement with the Saudi Federation, to hold our first national team preparation camp in Saudi Arabia, but the draw of Khaliji 25 brought the national team and its Saudi counterpart into one group, which made us prefer to set up a preparation camp in Egypt according to our capabilities .
Regarding the delay in signing with coach Scop and the delay in preparing the national team for the Gulf 25, Al-Issa revealed that the agreement with Scop was completed last August, but the lack of financial possibilities with the federation delayed all this until last November .
He pointed out that scoop will lead the Olympic team later, in addition to technically supervising the youth and junior teams in accordance with the development plan of the first team and providing it with the best players .
As for the inability to hold international Test matches, the president of the Football Association explained that the financial aspect is the reason and the obstacle for this .
He pointed out that the UAE federation had requested to play a match with the national team on the thirtieth of December, and after approval was given, he returned to apologize for the match, which may have confused the team's plan a little and resorted to trial matches available with the clubs of the second division in the Egyptian league.
For his part, coach scoop expressed his happiness to return to the leadership of the national team and deal with the Yemeni football federation despite the difficult challenges and different circumstances from his first period in Yemen in 2014.
He reviewed the steps of preparing the national team during the past period, starting with an internal camp in Aden led by assistant national coach Mohammed Al-zariqi .
He pointed out that his current period of work with the Yemeni national team is more difficult than the previous one due to the conditions of the country and the cessation of official activity and local competitions, which negatively affected the readiness of the players .
He stressed that the current participation in the Gulf Cup is a step in the way of preparing the first team during a period of a year that includes participation in the West Asian Championship in the UAE during next March and the twenty-sixth Gulf Cup championship during December of next year 2023 in Kuwait with the preparation of the Olympic team players for the upcoming competitions in September.
He said: We were keen that the first team currently has a large group under the age of 23, and we will work on competing to qualify for the Olympic team and perform well at the next Gulf Cup during December 2023 in Kuwait .
He stressed that if the team does not perform properly after that within a year, he will admit his mistake and apologize for continuing .
He said: I do not promise anything in Khaliji 25, but our ambition is great, I am confident in the enthusiasm of our players and that they will fight until the last moment in the matches .
He justified his acceptance to play matches with Egyptian second division clubs as professional teams and ready-made teams, in which they are included after it was impossible to hold international trial matches or with elite clubs due to the pressure of the Egyptian league, which plays a match every five days.
He said: Do not forget that Egyptian football is among the top three countries in Africa and the quality of the Egyptian player is high .
He pointed out that the national team will play a final match next Thursday against the army vanguards club, one of the powerful clubs in the Egyptian league.
Scoop stressed that the full concept of the main squad of the national team has become ready in his mind and that a number of professional players outside the country have been called up and will strengthen the ranks of the national team, and there are other players in some Gulf countries who have apologized for their contracts with their clubs and they prefer those contracts to wear the national team shirt .
