It was only days ago that a right-wing extremist burned the Holy Quran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Sweden, until the leader of an anti-Islamic extremist group in the Netherlands followed him to burn a copy of the Koran after tearing and desecrating it.
The leader of "Pegida" Edwin wagenfeld shared via Twitter, on Monday, a video clip conveying what he did in front of the parliament building in the Dutch city of The Hague.
The agency "Anatolia", citing Dutch media, reported that the local police gave him permission for this act on the condition that he would not burn the Holy Book of Muslims.
However, later, as shown in the video, he burned the torn pages of the Koran in a frying pan.
The video showed members of the Dutch police standing behind the right-wing extremist without moving a finger, tearing pages of the Koran and trampling on them.
Already in October last year, the Dutch police arrested the extremist leader while he was burning a copy of the Koran, during a rally attended by a group of supporters of his group in Rotterdam.
The incident comes after the far-right Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish "hard line" Party, burned a copy of the Koran near the Turkish Embassy in the Swedish capital Stockholm, amid tight police protection that prevented anyone from approaching him while committing his act.
The incident sparked anger among Muslims and condemnation from Gulf, Arab and Muslim countries, which considered it "a provocative act for the feelings of one and a half billion Muslims".
