The Bahrain national team succeeded in achieving a victory over its UAE counterpart, two goals to one, in the opening of the Gulf Cup in its twenty-fifth edition.
The two teams met on the floor of the Olympic Port Club Stadium in Basra, as part of the competitions of the first round of the group stage.
Bahrain and the UAE are in Group B, along with Qatar and Kuwait.
Kamil Aswad scored the first goal for Bahrain in the 60th minute of the match, with a free ball directly from outside the penalty area.
Jassim al Sheikh boosted Bahrain's lead with the second goal with a wonderful shot from the arc of the penalty area, which found the left corner of the UAE goal, in the 78th minute.
Tejali reduced the difference with a brilliant header in the tight corner as a result of a cross from the right front in the first minute of time instead of the lost for the second half.
It is noteworthy that the Bahrain national team is the holder of the title of the last edition, which was held in Qatar, after beating Saudi Arabia with a goal without reply.
