Jeddah/Private:
Al-Ahly team achieved a historic victory over the Saudi Jeddah Federation by three goals to one during the match that brought them together this evening, Friday, at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, “The Radiant Jewel”, in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.
Al-Ahly “Eagles” succeeded in putting on a wonderful show throughout the two halves of the match until they caught the “Ittihad Tigers” of Jeddah, who had previously defeated Auckland City NZ by three clean goals in the first match of the tournament.
Al-Ahly’s “Eagles” also succeeded in “untying” the knot of Al-Ittihad Jeddah, which had never lost to Al-Ahly throughout the confrontations that brought the two teams together in all competitions.
Al-Ahly's hat-trick was scored by Ali Maaloul, Hussein Al-Shahat and Emam Ashour in the 21st, 59th and 62nd minutes, while Benzema scored Al-Ittihad's only goal in the second minute of stoppage time.
Thus, Al-Ahly will meet the Brazilian team Fluminense in the semi-finals of the tournament on December 18.
first half
The start of the match was enthusiastic and active on the part of both teams, and the period of “feeling the pulse” did not last long, and Al-Ahly took the first dangerous opportunity in the match from Hussein Al-Shahat, before the Saudi team, nicknamed the Tigers, responded with a dangerous attack that El-Shenawy blocked brilliantly.
Mohamed Hani launched an attack from the right side after receiving a good pass from Percy Tau, but Hani slowed down the pass so that Al-Ittihad’s defense intervened and saved the situation.
Al-Ahly's strong performance in the match continued with dangerous attacks against the Saudi team, but at long intervals. Al-Ahly's control resulted in a penalty kick awarded by the referee against Al-Ittihad defender Hassan Kadish after the ball touched his "hand" in the 21st minute, from which Maaloul scored Al-Ahly's first goal.
After the goal, Al-Ittihad Jeddah's performance became active in search of an equaliser, with Al-Ahly's pressure continuing, and Imam Ashour received a yellow card for roughness in the 36th minute.
El-Shenawy blocked a ball from Benzema, and the referee awarded a penalty kick to Al-Ittihad after the ball touched Mohamed Abdel Moneim’s “hand” in the 44th minute, after the referee resorted to the VAR technique, and El-Shenawy brilliantly blocked Benzema’s penalty kick.
Kahraba wasted the opportunity to score a second goal for Al-Ahly after he received a ball that Ahmed Hegazy returned to Al-Ittihad’s goalkeeper, but Kahraba shot it far from the net, and the performance continued in the middle of the field until the first half ended with Al-Ahly leading with a clean goal.
Second half
Al-Ahly started this half with clear superiority, as was the case in the first half, taking advantage of the slowdown from the Saudi team, which relied on an uprising from time to time, which Al-Ahly’s defense responded brilliantly.
The Al-Ahly attack resulted in two consecutive goals in the 59th and 62nd minutes, where the second goal was scored by Hussein Al-Shahat from a wonderful pass from Kahraba. Al-Shahat succeeded in “cornering” the ball wonderfully against the Saudi team, and Hussein Al-Shahat received a yellow card, before Kahraba continued to shine and passed the ball. Good to Imam Ashour and Al-Ahly's third goal is scored from it.
Kahraba received a yellow card for roughness, and Kohler brought on the trio, Karim Fouad, Amr Al-Soulia, and Taher Mohamed Taher, instead of Hussein Al-Shahat, Kahraba, and Imam Ashour.
The last minutes of the match witnessed continuous attempts by Al-Ittihad Jeddah through Benzema and Conte, but Al-Ahly’s defense continued to outperform the Saudi team’s offensive line, and Dieng participated in the 83rd minute instead of Kuka due to the latter’s injury, and Modeste participated instead of Percy Tau, and the referee sent Modeste off. In the 90th minute, due to strong roughness with Ahmed Hegazy, defender of Al-Ittihad Jeddah.
Benzema scored the first goal for Al-Ittihad Jeddah in the second minute of stoppage time, and the performance continues until the match ends with Al-Ahly winning by three goals to one.
Al-Ahly started the match with the following formation:
