The general consumer price index (inflation) in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the first quarter of the current year 2024, increased by 1.72 percent, reaching 110.12 points, compared to 108.26 points for the same period of last year 2023.
The Department of General Statistics indicated in its monthly report, today, Monday, published by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), that the general consumer price index increased by 1.63 percent last March, reaching 110.61 points, compared to 108.83 points for the same month in 2023.
The general consumer price index rose in March of this year by 0.53 percent, reaching 110.61 points, compared to 110.02 points for the previous month of the same year.
The report indicated that among the most prominent commodity groups that contributed to the rise in the general consumer price index for the month of March of this year compared to the previous February were the meat and poultry group by 4.98 percent, dry and canned vegetables and legumes by 4.04 percent, fruits and nuts by 2.2 percent, and luggage. Personal by 1.77 percent, and transportation by 0.55 percent.
