The Japanese national team lost in the last minutes to its counterpart, Costa Rica, with a clean goal, in its second match in the Qatar World Cup 2022, in the match that brought them together at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in the second round of Group E.
The first half ended in a goalless draw between the two teams.
In the final minutes of the second half, Costa Rica snatched the winning goal, scored by Kisher Fuller in the 81st minute.
With this victory, Costa Rica raised its tally to three points in Group E, while Japan's tally was frozen to three points.
